BAR TALK: Motorcycle Insurance Q & A

Are you a motorcycle rider wondering what the best insurance is or what type of insurance you should have?

Hi, I’m Brad Parker, the attorney you want, but hope you never need.

If you ride motorcycles, hopefully you’ll never be involved in a serious wreck—but if you are, the injuries that you suffer are probably going to be much more severe than what they would be if you were riding in an automobile. Therefore, it’s crucially important that you have good insurance.

In Texas, the minimum insurance required is $30,000 so more likely than not, the person who hits you on your motorcycle is only going to have $30,000 in coverage. That leaves us looking for other avenues or other revenue sources to compensate you fully for the injuries you’ve suffered. The first place we look is uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. A lot of companies and carriers will not provide this to motorcycle riders so you need to specifically ask for it. This type of insurance can make all the difference in the world as to whether or not you’re going to be compensated if you have a serious accident as a result of a motorcycle collision.

If you need more information, please give us a call. We have a brochure about insurance and we’d be happy to provide that to you or answer any questions that you have.
