So, have you ever heard someone say they have full coverage when they’re talking about their car insurance or motorcycle insurance? And you think to yourself yeah, I have full coverage too but then you get home you go, what is full coverage and what does that mean?
Hi, I’m Brad Parker, the attorney you want but hope you never need and this is another edition of bark talk give me 90 seconds and I’ll explain full coverage to you.
So you think you have full coverage – what is full coverage, what does that really mean? Typically when someone says they have full coverage they think that that means they’re covered for anything and everything. That may or may not be true – what you need to do is really look at your policy and see what all it covers because full coverage doesn’t mean anything that’s just something that people use.
What it should mean is that you’ve got plenty of liability insurance so that if you hit someone -your assets are protected by the insurance coverage but what it also should mean is that you have collision and comprehensive coverage so that if you’re involved in an accident or storms come and hit your car, you can be covered that way as well. But what you really want to be sure that you have is uninsured underinsured motorist coverage meaning that you’re covered in the event that someone hits you and they don’t have enough insurance or maybe no insurance at all. But full coverage should also include towing, PIP (or personal injury protection), which is coverage that will cover your out-of-pocket expenses
In short it’s kind of a complicated situation when someone says full coverage and what does that really mean – if you go to our website we have a brochure that you can download that’s much more informative because of the details about the different coverages available for automobile as well as motorcycle insurance – they’re basically the same. I hope you’ll take the time to do that.
In the meantime, I hope I’ve answered some of your questions until next time I’m Brad Parker the attorney you want but hope you ever need.
