Hi, it’s that time of year again. I’m Brad Parker the attorney you want with hope you never need, and this is another edition of Bar Talk. Come on in let’s talk about it.

Well it’s the mid dog days of summer and the kids are getting ready to go back to school and of course that means more traffic, more pedestrian traffic, school zones, distractions in you’re driving.  All things that you need to be aware of and take a special attention to. One of the things that we all see during the school year is a lot more kids on bicycles, crossing guards, you need to be very attentive to that and that’s why the state had imposed previously that you can’t text and drive or use your cell phone in a school zone and that’s so important.

Studies have shown that driving and talking on the phone or texting is the same as driving while drunk. Would you ever drive drunk in a school zone much less drive drunk period? Of course not, and that’s why it’s so ultimately important that you pay attention. We got our little kids running around that could be your kids, grandkids, my kids, your neighbors kids, be careful.

Now as of September 1st there’s a statewide ban on texting while driving anywhere. So we should all be putting down our cell phones, put them away, the text can wait, lives of our children can’t. It’s a great time, it’s a fun time, I remember my kids going to school and taking them it, was so much fun. So let’s pay attention, let’s pay attention to the kids the crossing guards and other motorists. This has been another edition of bar talk. I’m Brad Parker the attorney you want but hope you never need, until next time. For more information about the legal process and your rights, download our free book.
